Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 pm by President Joe Maniaci.  The minutes from the October 15, 2024, meeting at the Gazebo were approved. The first motion was made by Mary McKeon and seconded by Kristine Edwards.

Treasurer’s Report

Sandy Birkenshaw presented the Treasurer’s Report.  The motion to accept was made by Andrew Hale and seconded by Heather Schroeder.

Education Update

There will be a class on May 30^th from 9am-330pm presented by Shila Kiander.  This class will go over 18 Mill Exemptions and Tax Rate Request Form L-4029.

There is another class that will be on August 27^th taught by David Rice.  This class will be about self-storage facilities.

Guest Speaker

Paul Vreman – Macomb Treasurer Tax Supervisor, Micholle Israel – Land File Department, Jennifer Walker – Register of Deeds Deputy Director and Colleen Baumgarten – Admin Coordinator, were present.  Jennifer Walker brought Property Fraud alert pamphlets for us to look over and to pass out to residents.  If any community would like to receive these in bulk to mail out to your residents, please reach out to Jennifer Walker at  Jennifer.walker@macombgov.org.

Kristen Sieloff passed out the 2025 summary report of valuation changes.  6.3% was the overall assessment change with 4.77% being the taxable value change.  On May 21^st there will be a post MBOR in person meeting at the county building.  This will be taking place on the 9^th floor at 9am.  This is an assessor meeting for anyone who does or oversees reporting for the MBOR. Mark your calendars for June 6^th, as that is our annual golf outing at Heather Hills Golf Club.  The cost will be $85 per person

New Business / Old Business

Lee Zumbrunnen requested life membership.  This was approved and Kristen Sieloff made the first motion to accept with Andrew Hale seconding that motion. This year, board members will resume their same positions with Joe Maniaci as President, Vicky Shipman as Vice President, Melissa Listenbee as Secretary, Sandy Birkenshaw as Treasurer and Kristen Sieloff/Jennifer Czeiszperger as Trustees.  This motion was brought to a vote and passed.  Anyone interested in joining the board is encouraged to do so as we are always looking for new members to get involved.  Joe received his q for being President 2024-2025. Thanks Joe! The motion to the slate of officers was made by Andrew Hale and seconded by Mary McKeon

The meeting was adjourned at 1:10p.m with Mary McKeon motioning to accept followed by Deanna Okorowski.
